In observance of World Mental Health Day, the Department of Social Work, HCIMT in collaboration with the Government Mental Health Center, Kuthiravattom, organized a series of impactful street plays on 10th October 2024. These performances took place at the Civil Station and Mananchira Square, at 10:30 am and 3:30 pm, drawing audiences from all walks of life. The program aimed to heighten awareness about the critical importance of mental health and its impact on personal well-being, relationships, and community life. Through the street play format known for its direct, engaging approach the team conveyed powerful messages about the necessity of mental health care, the harmful effects of stigma, and the need for supportive environments for those affected by mental health issues. People gathered at both locations witnessed performances that brought to light real-life challenges faced by individuals dealing with mental health conditions, emphasizing themes of empathy, inclusivity, and hope. The initiative sparked meaningful conversations and encouraged community members to reflect on the role they play in fostering a society that values and supports mental health for all.
