The “Oikonomia” Student Association of the Economics Department, established in 2016, is devoted to the comprehensive development of students, emphasizing the importance of extracurricular activities in shaping well-rounded individuals. This vibrant association nurtures critical thinking, sharpens skills beyond the academic curriculum, and deepens students’ understanding of economic and business issues in a global context. By engaging in a wide array of programs, students are encouraged to explore contemporary topics, enhancing their overall educational experience and preparing them for real-world challenges.

The association’s initiatives are designed to benefit students in multiple ways. This includes quiz on the 152nd Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi not only enriched students’ knowledge of historical events but also honed their research and analytical skills. The online poster-making competition for International Yoga Day fostered creativity and allowed students to express their ideas visually, enhancing their design and communication abilities. The “Impressive Self-Introduction” competition, aimed at welcoming new students, was instrumental in building confidence, improving public speaking skills, and encouraging peer interaction, making the transition to college life smoother. Moreover, these activities help students develop a sense of community, encouraging collaboration and teamwork. They also provide opportunities for leadership development as students take on roles in organizing and managing events. Overall, the association plays a crucial role in equipping students with the soft skills, practical knowledge, and confidence needed to excel both academically and professionally, while also fostering a sense of social responsibility and global awareness.
