SC / ST Cell
The University Grants Commission (UGC) gave directions to give priority to the downtrodden students of the ST/ST community in all Universities by establishing a SC/ST Cell in each College. The SC/ST cell of Holy Cross Institute of Management and Technology, Calicut, constituted in the year 2015, works to safeguard the interests of the SC/ST students and guides the students to avail permitted scholarships.
AIMS
The cell aims to monitor the guidelines issued by the MHRD, the University Grants Commission and by the Government of Kerala from time to time. The cell safeguards the special interests of students who belong to the SC/ST community and to provide guidance when required. The cell works as the grievance redressal cell for the students to approach with any grievances faced during the tenor of study. Regular interactive sessions are organized with the students to motivate and take care of their requirements.
UGC Guidelines for the Establishment of the SC/ST Cell
According to the 1998 UGC Guidelines for the establishment of a Special Cell for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes, for the Universities and deemed Universities, the purpose of these cells is to monitor the admission of students and the recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff at various levels. Its function is also to help the SC/ST categories to integrate with the mainstream of the University community and to remove difficulties, which they may be experiencing.
