National Service Scheme (NSS)
The National Service Scheme (NSS) Unit at our college, established in 2009 and operating under the Human Resource Development Ministry of India, plays a vital role in the holistic development of students through community service. This program is designed to foster social responsibility and create a meaningful connection between the campus and rural communities. By engaging in regular and special camps, awareness classes, demonstrations, and personality development programs, the NSS Unit No. 248 helps students develop practical skills and leadership qualities. The NSS Unit’s activities include blood donation drives, food and shelter programs for the underprivileged, and support for local governance in community development initiatives. Through these activities, students gain hands-on experience in addressing societal issues, enhancing their problem-solving abilities and empathy. The unit’s objective is to instill a strong sense of social welfare and encourage students to actively participate in community service, which not only benefits society but also enriches students’ personal growth.
Participation in the NSS provides students with valuable life skills, such as teamwork, leadership, and communication. It also offers them opportunities for self-discovery and personal development while contributing to the betterment of society. The unit’s accomplishments, including awards for Best NSS Unit and Best NSS Programme Officer from the University of Calicut, and involvement in various National Integration Camps (NICs), Pre-Republic Day (PRE-RD) camps, and special adventure camps, highlight its effectiveness in nurturing socially responsible and community-oriented individuals.
