Holy Cross College, Institute of Management and Technology, Calicut, organized a series of events on World Environment Day, June 5th, 2025, to promote environmental awareness and sustainability among its students and the wider community. The diverse programs included sapling distribution, a literary session, a poster design competition, and a special observation by the Department of Social Work.

  1. Prakrithi 2025 : Nurturing a Greener Future: Sapling Distribution The CMA proudly spearheaded the “Nurturing a Greener Future” initiative by distributing 180 fruit and medicinal plants to the students of Holy Cross College. Held at the College Garden at 10:30 AM, this program aimed to instill a sense of environmental responsibility and sustainability by encouraging students to nurture these saplings in their homes, contributing to a greener future.
  2. Green Ink: Writing the Environment Co-ordinated by Englica in association with NSS, the “Green Ink: Writing the Environment” interactive session took place at 10:30 AM in the Seminar Hall. Staff Co-ordinators Mr. Joby Mathew and Dr. Snigdha S, along with Student Co-ordinators Mr. Jithin Ernest and Ms. Mariya Roy John, guided participants through discussions on how literature shapes, reflects, and inspires our relationship with nature. The session included a prayer by Ms. Mariya Roy John, opening remarks by Mr. Joby Mathew, a presentation, an interactive session moderated by Mr. Joby Mathew, and a vote of thanks by Ms. Soya Sunny.
  3. Poster Design Competition The Department of Computer Science, in association with the Nature Club, organized a Poster Design Competition to creatively celebrate World Environment Day. From 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM, students participated in this digital-only competition in the 1st Year BCA Classroom. Rules emphasized originality, prohibiting plagiarism or AI art, and allowing only one entry per participant, ensuring a fair and creative showcase of talent.
  4. Green Reads: A Journey Through Environmental Literature “Green Reads: A Journey Through Environmental Literature” was another engaging program held on June 5th, 2025. This initiative focused on exploring environmental themes through literary works, inviting participants to delve into a diverse collection of books and texts that address ecological concerns, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for environmental narratives.
  5. World Environmental Day Observation “Blooming Together” The Department of Social Work organized a special observation titled “Blooming Together” on World Environment Day, June 5th, 2025. This event, involving the MSW 2024-2026 Batch, took place at Mahila Manthir, Gender Park in Vallikkunnu. The observation likely involved a hands-on community engagement activity.
