Kozhikode: In a vibrant display of social commitment and inclusivity, Holy Cross Institute of Management and Technology, Calicut, organized a successful Mini Marathon to promote the upcoming Kerala Disability Festival.

The marathon served as a curtain-raiser for the state-level festival scheduled to be held at Kozhikode Beach from January 29 to February 1, 2026.


Event Highlights

  • Flag-off: The event was officially flagged off by Dr. S. Mohanapriya IAS, District Assistant Collector, Kozhikode, from the college campus.

  • Route: Hundreds of enthusiastic students participated in the run, which commenced at the Holy Cross College campus and concluded at the Freedom Square, Kozhikode Beach.

  • Core Message: The marathon carried the powerful message of building a “Disability Friendly Society” and aimed to raise awareness regarding social inclusion and human rights.

Key Dignitaries

The event was graced by several prominent figures who shared their insights during the concluding ceremony:

  • Leena Rasheed, District Judge, attended as the Chief Guest at Freedom Square.

  • Dr. Sister Shiny George, Principal of Holy Cross College, presided over the function.

  • Dr. Roshan Bijlee, Director of CRC, delivered the keynote address.

  • Dr. Abdul Hakeem, Convener of the Kerala Disability Fest, also spoke at the event.

Other notable speakers included Vice Principal Dr. Martin Bernard, Anoop K.T., Baiju Ayadathil, NSS Program Officer Lijo Joseph, Karthik A.S., and College Union Chairperson Harsha S.

The Mini Marathon was a joint initiative organized by the NSS Unit, Sports Club, and College Union of Holy Cross College. The institution, accredited with a NAAC A+ grade, continues to lead the way in integrating academic excellence with social responsibility.
