
Kozhikode: In a significant move toward building a drug-free society, Holy Cross College, Calicut, recently hosted the inauguration and training session of ‘Nervazhi’, a comprehensive anti-narcotic action plan. The program is a collaborative initiative by the Department of Social Justice, the District Probation Office, the NSS Azad Sena, and the NSS Unit of Holy Cross College.
Inauguration and Key Objectives
The district-level training program was officially inaugurated by Dr. S. Jayasree, Honorable Deputy Mayor of Kozhikode Corporation. In her address, she emphasized the critical need for awareness and rehabilitation in the fight against substance abuse.
‘Nervazhi’ is designed with a dual focus:

Awareness: Educating the youth and the public about the legal and health consequences of drug trafficking and consumption.

Rehabilitation: Providing a path for social reintegration for those involved in drug-related offenses.

The Role of Volunteers
A key highlight of the program was the active participation of selected volunteers from the NSS Azad Sena across various colleges affiliated with the University of Calicut, including the Medical and Technical cells. The student leadership team, including Marvan Abdulla, Alan Varghese, Sona John, T. Devika, and A.R. Riswan, played a pivotal role in coordinating the event.
