The Department of Social Work, in collaboration with ARDSI, organized an insightful session titled ‘Fading Light: Navigating the Dementia Journey,’** aimed at raising awareness about dementia care. The session was led by Mr. Suresh Kumar OP, a consultant social worker at KSIDS Smruthipatham, a unit managed by the Social Justice Department and ARDSI. Students were introduced to key concepts in dementia care, such as the importance of early diagnosis, effective communication strategies, and how to create a supportive environment for patients. The session also highlighted the role of social workers in advocating for the rights of dementia patients and providing them with access to necessary resources. Overall, students walked away with a deeper awareness of the complexities of dementia care, preparing them to engage in future roles in healthcare and community-based social work.
