Holy Cross College Calicut, through its dynamic ED Club in association with the Department of Fashion Design, successfully concluded a comprehensive program aimed at fostering entrepreneurial spirit and promoting sustainable fashion. The events, held on August 12, 2025, provided a valuable platform for students to gain industry insights and engage with the world of business and traditional textiles.
The day began with an insightful talk session titled “Strategy to become successful Entrepreneur in the fashion business management.” The session, held in the Mini Auditorium, featured Mr. Giri Varma C, Technical Superintendent from the Ministry of Textiles, Govt of India, as the resource person. He shared his expertise and practical advice, inspiring students with strategies for thriving in the competitive fashion business landscape. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Sr. Shiny George, Principal, with a welcome speech by Ms. Kavya Jomy and a presidential address by Ms. Sreelakshmi, HOD of the Department of Fashion. The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Dipin P. The entire session, meticulously coordinated by Sreelakshmi Anil ( Asst. Proffessor, Dept. of Fashion), provided a solid educational foundation for aspiring entrepreneurs.
Following the talk session, the “Khadi Trade Fair 2025” opened its doors, allowing students and visitors to “Shop sustainable, Wear proudly.” The trade fair, also held in the Main Auditorium, ran from 11:00 AM to 4:30 PM, showcasing the timeless appeal and economic viability of Khadi. This initiative perfectly complemented the entrepreneurship talk by providing a real-world example of how traditional crafts can be transformed into a successful business venture, aligning with the college’s commitment to education, innovation, and sustainability.
The events demonstrate Holy Cross College Calicut’s proactive approach in providing its students with opportunities to learn from industry leaders and engage in practical, hands-on experiences that bridge the gap between academic knowledge and professional application.
