Women Development Cell (WDC)
The Women Development Cell (WDC), established in August 2012, serves as a cornerstone for promoting gender sensitivity and empowerment within HC College and the wider community. The WDC has made significant strides in advancing women’s rights by organizing a diverse array of academic, technical, medical, cultural, and social events that emphasize the importance of gender equality. This initiative is a key achievement in the college’s commitment to women empowerment and reflects its dedication to creating a more equitable environment.
The WDC conducts seminars, workshops, competitions, and awareness classes that educate and inspire students to champion gender equality and women’s empowerment. The cell’s impactful work has been recognized with Best Performance Awards from the University of Calicut in 2017 and 2021, underscoring its successful efforts in fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect. Key activities of the WDC include promoting a gender-neutral and inclusive campus environment, providing self-defense training to enhance personal safety, offering premarital counseling to support informed decisions, and assisting women entrepreneurs with resources and guidance to foster their business ventures. By addressing these areas, the WDC equips students and the community with essential skills and knowledge, thereby contributing to a more just and supportive society for women.
