Oziva, association of hotel management was formed in 2015 with the objective to promote professional standards and training standards, to enhance operational efficiencies and build effective communication skills and confidence among the members. The club creates a friendly atmosphere and a sense of unity and teamwork. Various activities and competitions organized by the club provide the opportunity in grooming leadership skills, positive attitude and values that are essential for the hospitality industry and contribute towards the growth of students apart from the regular academics and give them a personal experience of handling and executing the organizational capabilities. The club activities include various events like quiz competitions, seminars, industrial visit, talk show with industrial experts, food festivals, theme lunch, fresher’s day programme, inter and intra department competitions, college fest etc.
La-tiara designer Club was fashioned in the year 2013, its inauguration and Logo unveiling was done by Miss Lola Martin (renowned Choreographer and director of Miss India Spain) with the objective of enhancing students’ creative skill and providing a platform to exchange and exhibit their ideas, skill and talent. The programmes conducted by the club offered numerous opportunities for student leadership and participation beyond classroom setup and academic programme. It promotes the skills of the students and makes them truly life-ready. Every year the members for the clubs were selected under the guidance of two faculties, who monitor the meeting and other discussions during the club meetings. The report of the meeting and other programmes is regularly reported and minutes are kept. Club conducted the whole spectrum of activities in the realm of Art, Fashion, textile and manufacturing.
Englica, the Association of the department of English, is an organization that strives to tap the potential of students and give them a platform to showcase their talents. It holds various competitions and events that encourage the students to develop creative and literary talents along with a social consciousness. It intends to engage students in a constant pursuit of knowledge, literary awareness, communication skills and personality development. Ranging from various seasonal competitions held in celebration of festivals like Onam and Christmas, it focuses on monthly activities which give all its participants a chance to take part and win accolades. It comes up with various workshops and seminars regularly that help enrich skills in the students. Various celebrated dignitaries and subject experts are also invited which give the students a chance to mingle with the experts and broaden their perspectives. It also takes the initiative to organize interactive sessions and discussions that help increase their confidence and public speaking skills. Like a well-oiled machine, it conducts each event smoothly and perfectly with amazing communications between students and teachers.
The beginning of SPARKLE was a mile-stone in the history of P G Department of Social Work, HCIMT. It was started with the objective of enriching the student experiences both academically and in the professional sphere and provides a strong platform for the students to effectively intervene into social causes. The association has been promoting the interests of students by providing activities, events for developing their professional competencies.
SPARKLE organizes various events such as creating awareness on different matters, working with the marginalized communities, conducting seminars and workshops and it always keeps its eyes open towards the needs of the people around. As an association, SPARKLE collaborates with various NGOs, Social Welfare agencies and Government bodies to address the issues arising due to various unexpected situations. It opens various opportunities for the students to showcase their talents and creativity and also to explore their potential as leaders. The association through its diverse social and educational campaigns and events motivates the student community of the college and the community to become socially responsive and to be a part of the nation building process.
In order to meet the challenging needs of the corporate world environment, it is not just sufficient for a student of Commerce and Management to be sound theoretically but also must be exposed to the outer world in a dynamic way to face practical situations. The Commerce and Management association was inaugurated in 2013 to enrich and empower the students with academic and technical excellence. The association helps in the holistic development of students by promoting exchange of knowledge and experience on sound management principles and practices. Inspiring the students to become innovative leaders the association organizes capacity building programmes, skill development trainings and programmes to develop social consciousness among students.
The “Oikonomia'' Student Association of Economics Department was started in 2016. Its main aim is to promote the overall development of students with emphasis on extracurricular activities. The club helps to develop critical thinking of students, sharpens their skills beyond their curriculum, It also develops their understanding of economic and business issues and how they relate to the world at large. The club organizes programmes for student development including budget analysis, seminars and talks on contemporary aspects in economics and other programmes.
The National Service Scheme unit of this College was started in 2009 and functions under the Human Resource Development Ministry of India. It is an educational programme for personality development of the students through community service. This is to create social consciousness among students, by establishing a meaningful linkage between the campus and the community, especially the rural community.
The N.S.S. Unit No. 248 of this College conducts regular and special camps, awareness classes, demonstrations, personality development programmes etc. for the volunteers. The Unit has one hundred volunteers under the charge of a programme officer. The objective is achieved through camps for leadership training, blood donation, food and shelter for poor programs. The NSS volunteers have also embarked on programs wherein they assist the local governance to implement the assigned community development programs.
The Red Ribbon Club encourages peer-to-peer messaging on HIV prevention and provides a safe space for young people to seek clarifications of their doubts and on myths surrounding HIV/AIDS. The RRCs also promote voluntary blood donation among youth. The college bagged the best Red Ribbon Club Award of Kerala State AIDS Control Society for consecutive 3 years since 2017 for its commendable work.
Bodhi Readers Club encourages students to reach their full potential and develop a positive attitude to lifelong learning. The club was inaugurated on 26 October 2015 by Dr. Dineshan Koovakkai Asst. librarian Calicut university study center. The activities of the club include library Orientation, Book exhibition, reading Day, National library week, world Book Day Quiz Competition and Best Library User award etc. The club promotes the students’ reading habit and provides opportunities to keep reading and learning new things. Every year the club gives “Best Library User Award” to motivate the reading habits among the students.
The entrepreneurship club of the college was started in 2015 with a vision to equip and train students with all entrepreneurship skills. The club aims to come up with programs that enable the members to evolve themselves to a creative, innovative, productive and responsible citizen who someday will be able to manage their own startup or business. Entrepreneurship club follows the method of training through in-house and outside events for enhancing the skills. All the management meets conducted by the various institutions in the state and country are noted for participation. All required pre – event training is provided to the students by the best resources available in the college, so as to enable them to perform better. The Entrepreneurship club has guided the students for over 5 management events with the support of faculties of various departments. Notable events is YIP 2020 - Young Innovative Program wherein the participants have reached the competition in Kerala State Level.
The activities of Malayalavedhi started in June 2013.It was decided to form the club as a place to learn about language, culture and social changes. Malayalavedhi started with the objective to develop the abilities of the students related to languages and to be familiar with the important personalities of our nation and in the world at large. In 2021 the club was renamed as EKTHA with the intention of the coordination of activities of various languages like English, Hindi, Malayalam, German and French which are academic courses offered by the college. The club conducts regular meetings, programmes, debates, and open forums on various topics for student enrichment.
The Placement Cell in Holy Cross Institute of Management and Technology plays a crucial role in locating job opportunities for Under Graduates and Post Graduates of the college by keeping in touch with reputed firms and industrial establishments. The Placement Cell operates round the year to facilitate contacts between companies and graduates. We have been successful in maintaining our high placement statistics over the years and the Placement Cell organizes career guidance programmes for all the students starting from first year. The cell arranges training programmes like Mock Interviews, Group Discussions, Communication Skills Workshop etc. and it also organizes Public Sector Exam Training for students who are interested to join Government Sectors. It also invites HR Managers from different industries to conduct training programmes for final year students.
ADSO is an organization for students aimed at generating awareness on the increasing substance abuse prevalence rates among youth. The strategy employs education, awareness and advocacy as the means towards achieving this goal. Through the education programs, the association equips students to be involved in the fight against drugs by conducting awareness programmes, awareness rallies, exhibitions on the ill effects of substance abuse within and outside the campus. The Anti-Drugs Student Organization (ADSO) of our college got ‘Manmadhan Award’ for our anti-drugs activities and social commitment in the year 2016.
The nature club holds the major responsibility of transforming the mission of sustainable development of the college. The green practices taken up by the college and other forms of protecting and promoting environmental sustainability are initiated by the nature club. Several programmes are organized by the nature club which includes distribution of saplings and seeds, construction and maintenance of gardens at public places, nature camps for students, green auditing, initiating and monitoring eco-friendly practices and awareness programmes for students and the community on environment conservation.
Chrysalis club is a platform for the students to blossom their artistic skills related to the literary field. It observes birthdays of literary people, conducts group discussions about new arrivals in literature and literary prizes, holds seminars and symposiums, arranges invited talks of celebrities etc. It helps students to mature their literary talents just like its symbol of the transformation from pupa to butterfly.
The Arts and Sports Club of the college is a platform for the students to express their talents in extracurricular activities along with the regular academic activities. The club promotes hidden talents and provides a range of opportunities for the students to be part of several cultural activities and competitions, entertainment programmes and sports competitions. The club organizes arts day “KALAPRAYANAH” every year wherein students actively participate in a variety of cultural events. Apart from this the club celebrates festivals like Onam, Christmas, Eid, Kerala piravi etc. The annual sports meet is also organized by the club including indoor and outdoor sports items. Intercollegiate badminton, basketball competitions are also organized by the club.
Debate forum has been very active in the college from 2015. The club deals with almost all the contemporary relevant subjects which affect the day-to-day Indian society. It ranges from economics to cultural fields and literature to the gender world. The entire college, both Students and staff participate in the programmes with great enthusiasm. It also conducts Intercollegiate debate competitions and students from almost all the colleges in and around Calicut participate in the event. The motto of the forum is ‘Think for a better World’ and it aims to motivate students to know and shape their own point of view related to every aspect encountered by the society.
The Women Development Cell (WDC) was constituted in August 2012 with an aim to create a gender sensitized community within campus as well as in the society. It has been organizing varied academic, technical, medical, cultural and social events to spread the real importance of gender equality in the society through college students. The establishment of the WDC is indeed a landmark achievement of the HC College in pursuance of the policies of women empowerment within the college ambit. Various talks, Seminars, workshops, Competitions and events have motivated the students to spread the importance and ways for women empowerment and gender equality. The WDC bagged best performance awards in 2017 and 2021 from the University of Calicut.
